Bacon stores well, so don’t be afraid to have leftover bacon! Our best recommendation here is to dry the pork with a clean cloth or paper towel, shred it, and store the shredded pork in an airtight container or in the refrigerator. We usually cook pork at somewhere between 375-400°F. Why the limit, you ask? Thick-cut bacon requires a slightly higher heat (400°F), while regular bacon is best at 375°F (you can shave off a few extra minutes by cooking regular-cut bacon at 400°F). If you’re not sure what type of pork you have, we recommend sticking to 375°F and a little more time at the end if needed.
How To Bake Bacon In The Oven For Perfect Crispy Strips
Bacon takes 20-25 minutes in the oven, too, depending on the thickness. Thick-cut bacon takes up to 25 minutes, while regular bacon should take exactly 20 minutes. It’s best to start with 20 minutes and then increase the time as needed (remember, you can always add more time, but there’s nothing you can remove if your bacon is burnt!).
No! No need to brown your oven bacon (thank goodness!). The cooking time is fast and the oven temperature is high, so there is no need to frown!

Don’t throw away your bacon fat! And definitely don’t pour it down the sink drain. When the grease is cool but not solid (this may take 20-30 minutes), pour it into a mason jar and then use it as cooking oil. Lard is good for cooking vegetables, fried eggs, fish, chicken, pork or beef.
Feel free to store bacon grease in your mason jar on the counter (just like you would ghee). You can store it in the refrigerator if you want, but it is not necessary.
