To add fractions, start by multiplying the numbers, or the highest number of each fraction. For example, if you want to multiply 1/12 × 3/4, first add 1 × 3 = 6. Then increase the denominator, which is 12 × 4 = 48, making our fraction an example 6/48. After you’ve multiplied up and down, just find the fraction by looking for the greatest common factor, or GCF. In general, you can start with 2 if it is an even number.
