I have just started using tofu as a new vegan and since this product can be kept in the cupboard until opened it is very convenient. Extra firm already has less water than standard tofu, so it has more protein per weight, which is important if, like me, you train to gain muscle. Each 349g packet contains 26g protein, 7g fat, 0g carbs and only 178 calories. Neutral flavor means it can be flavored sweet, sour, salty, spicy, herbal or neutral like yogurt, almost any flavor you want. Now I can make things like low fat, oil free, high protein vegan mayonnaise and vegan egg salad sandwiches (which I’ve really missed!) I’ve checked with my local recycler here in Leeds UK and Tetra Pak packaging can be recycled. I couldn’t find this extra firm version in any of the 3 supermarkets I shop at, so I’ll probably buy it online again. I’ve always been wary of vegan tofu recipes, but now she’ll be able to explore a much wider range of vegan cooking.
