Most of these features work easily out of the box, while others may require basic configuration for the best experience. This page summarizes the JavaScript features shipped with VS. A tip. To check if a JavaScript file is part of a JavaScript project, open the file in VS and run JavaScript: Open Project Configuration. When writing JavaScript function calls, VS displays information about the function signature and highlights the parameter you’re currently filling in:
Auto import makes coding easier by suggesting available variables in your project and its dependencies. If you choose one of these suggestions, VS will automatically add it to the top of the import file.

VS includes some handy refactorings for JavaScript, such as the Extract function and the Extract Constant. Just select the source you want to extract and then click the bulb in the gutter or press (⌘. (Windows, Linux Ctrl+. )) to see the available refactors.

You can also use some of TypeScript’s advanced type checking and error reporting features in regular JavaScript files. This is a great way to catch common programming mistakes. These type checks also enable exciting hotfixes for JavaScript, including adding a missing import and adding a missing attribute.
