How To Run Mysql Query

How To Run Mysql Query – I installed mySQL and MySQL Workbench. I changed the root password when I opened mySQL workbench for the first time. I have created a simple table and when I try to query it I cannot execute the command. In fact, it cannot perform any query, including displaying tables; I can request them from the terminal. I tried to insert some rows in the table from a simple Java code, which I can do without problems.

Please let me know if anyone has experienced this problem and if there is a solution for it. Appreciate your help in this matter. Ability to execute requests from the terminal.

This is a well-known bug that seems to appear again and again with newer versions (both MySQL Workbench and macOS). Bug #83658 is the biggest one (and it’s mentioned a lot twice).

At the end there is a link to bug #87714 where the problem itself seems to be inconsistent, but the reporter (Bob Davenport) fixed it by editing the source code and reposting. You can find the link inside and I’ll post it here so it’s complete. This solved the same problem I had:

Long-running queries/statements/transactions are sometimes unavoidable in a MySQL environment. In some cases, prolonged interrogation can lead to a dangerous incident. Optimizing query performance and identifying long-running queries should be done regularly when you are managing your database. However, things get more complicated when multiple events in a group or cluster are involved.

When handling multiple nodes, we need to avoid the repetitive task of checking each node. ClusterControl controls several aspects of your database server, including queries. ClusterControl aggregates all query-related information from all nodes in a group or cluster to provide a centralized view of the workload. Here’s a great way to understand your entire cluster with minimal effort.

First of all, we need to know the nature of the question, it is expected to be a long question or a short question. Some analytics and batch operations should be long queries, so we can skip them now. Also, depending on the size of the table, changing the structure of the table using the ALTER command can be a long operation.

For short-term trading, it should be completed as quickly as possible, usually within seconds. The shorter the better. This comes with a set of query rules that users must follow, such as using the right indexing in WHERE or JOIN statements, using the right data to store data, choosing the right data type, scheduling batch jobs during off-peak hours, offloading analytics. / traffic reporting for special cues and so on.

The list above shows that it is not the only question that causes all kinds of problems. There are many reasons to consider MySQL Server differently. In the worst case scenario, a long request can cause complete service failure, server downtime, server crashes, and maxed out connections. If you notice a request taking longer than usual to complete, investigate.

MySQL provides several built-in tools for long-term transaction validation. First of all, the SHOW PROCESSLIST or SHOW FULL PROCESSLIST commands can display queries executed in real time. Here’s a screenshot of ClusterControl’s query execution function, similar to the SHOW FULL PROCESSLIST command (but ClusterControl aggregates all processes into a single view of all nodes in the cluster):

As you can see, we can see the offending question right there in the output. But how often do we look into these trends? This is only useful if you are aware of the long term trade. Otherwise, you won’t know until something happens – like connections not gathering or the server running slower than normal.

The slow query log can be used to find queries that take a long time to execute and are therefore candidates for optimization. However, analyzing a long, slow query log can take a long time. There are tools to analyze MySQL slow query log files and summarize their contents, such as mysqldumpslow, pt-query-digest or ClusterControl Above Queries.

Performance Schema is a great tool available for monitoring MySQL server internal and low-level performance. The following tables in the Performance Schema can be used to find slow queries:

MySQL 5.7.7 and higher includes sys schema, a set of features that help database administrators and developers to interpret data collected by implementing the schema in an understandable form. System schema objects can be used for standard configuration and evaluation applications.

ClusterControl provides advisors, which are mini-programs that you can write using the ClusterControl DSL (similar to JavaScript) to extend ClusterControl’s monitoring capabilities according to your needs. There are several included scripts based on Performance Schema that can be used to monitor query performance, such as I/O wait times, lock wait times, and so on. For example on the floor

With ClusterControl, you get some powerful features that you won’t find in a standard MySQL installation. ClusterControl can be configured to monitor performance and raise an alarm and send a notification to the user when the query length threshold is exceeded. This can be configured using the runtime settings in Settings:

It’s a lie. We recommend that users can do this by setting it to 1 (true). To make it permanent, add the following line to /etc/cmon.d/cmon_X.cnf:

Additionally, you can filter any list of resources based on certain criteria using a regular expression (regex). For example, if you want ClusterControl to see a long-running query for three MySQL users named “sbtest”, “myshop”, and “db_user1”, you do the following:

This feature is not enabled by default because a dead view will affect CPU usage on the database node. To enable it, simply check the Enable Transaction Log box and select the time you want. To make it permanent, add a variable with the value in seconds to /etc/cmon.d/cmon_X.cnf:

Prolonged operation can result in reduced performance, server shutdowns, connection crashes, and death. With ClusterControl, you can view long-running queries directly from the user interface, without investigating each MySQL node in the cluster. Show and stop executing procedures in MySQL. The KILL command terminates the connection string by ID along with the active request, if any. Then, to see the removal requests, you need to see the processes on the server – and the SHOW PROCESSLIST command is a great solution. This is not an elegant way to solve database problems, but it is an effective last resort. There are 4 main reasons for this:

None of these scenarios are good, so make sure other solutions are tried before you do KILL. But once you know that the KILL method is needed, you have a few different options. But in this guide, we will focus on a more “intuitive” way to show and solve incorrect questions using simple commands. You should remember that KILL has two modifiers – CONNECTION and QUERY. KILL CONNECTION is the same as KILL, while KILL QUERY ends the query for the connection ID and leaves the connection itself.
