While on vacation, I accidentally dropped my iPhone X in the ocean. I had only 20 seconds left before I was out of the water. The iPhone continued to work for a long time, but I noticed that my Face ID was not available. That evening my iPhone died and I wanted to charge it. It worked fine until I needed my iPhone, not knowing it was water damaged, I removed it and then it died again. From this point it will not restart and is stuck in a boot loop. Now I understand that my phone is damaged by water. I decided to put on rice one day. After that I tried to download it, but it didn’t do anything anymore, not even showing the apple logo. I was worried about this and decided to leave it on the rice for a few more days. After that I charged it and it powered up -> it showed the apple logo -> it died again. I thought my battery was damaged so I decided to replace it myself. This solved the problem of my iPhone dying, but now it’s back to the boot loop. I stumbled across some YouTube videos and found that the boot loop can be caused by water in the connectors. I decided to clean all my connectors with isopropyl but unfortunately that didn’t fix anything. I’m worried now because there are no apple repairs that cost money in my area and as a student I saved a lot of time buying this phone let alone buying a new one. Is there anything else that can solve the problem? I really appreciate the help! Thank you very much in advance.

I would say you would need a new phone. iPhones and water do not mix, and salt water is especially bad because it is a good conductor of electricity. This is not minor water damage, this is major water damage.

I doubt there is anything other than a very short fix anyone can do with salt water damage.

I think this issue is more than any third party repair. However, there is nothing personal against third-party stores; they don’t even have the training to handle issues like Apple. If it’s logic board damage from salt corrosion, even Apple can’t do anything about it.
