Today I updated my Java version to 7u51. After installation, I cleared the Java Cache, the browser cache and entered a secure website that uses an applet to provide certain additional services to the user.

The widget no longer works. I went to http://www.java.com to check the version of Java detected in Internet Explorer, and the Java page says:

Microsoft Is (finally) Killing Off Internet Explorer Entirely

Since the applet works as expected in other browsers, I can assume that the problem is neither in the applet nor in its deployment files/processes, but in the compatibility of JRE 7u51 with IE 11. I want to know if there is a solution for this.

As an additional measure, I used the java.com tool to remove all previous and unreliable JRE versions (using Google Chrome). After double checking with IE 11, I can see Java plugins enabled and mined on 7u51:

I know IE has improved; However, we recommend our customers to use Google Chrome or Firefox as these browsers have proven to be more compatible with our web applications. Unfortunately, we cannot force our customers to use a specific browser due to normal corporate software usage restrictions, etc.

The following screenshot shows Internet Explorer 11 with the compatibility view set to “java.com”. This does not solve the problem in this case.

We had the same problems with IE11 and the new Java. Try adding your site to the compatibility view. You can find here how to do it.

You can try now whether it works or not. You can then remove the page from compatibility view and it should work as well.

I had the same problem with Java 7 u51. It was only after I reset Internet Explorer that it worked again, Java was enabled in the browser, etc.

The behavior of widgets changes significantly with update 51. It’s going to be a confusing few weeks for RIA developers. Recommended Reading: https://blogs.oracle.com/java-platform-group/entry/new_security_requirements_for_rias

We are seeing the same problem with Java 7u51, IE11 and Windows 8.1. as detailed at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie11-iewindows8_1/windows-81-ie11-java-7u51-combination-doesnt-work/24af818d-7196-4dd5-96f5 -9c0c6452 and -http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/security-dev/2014-January/010048.html and in the bug report sent to Oracle on January 17, 2014, we find that everything is fine while do not consent to Java making changes to your system after installation. After you enable the permission after installation, Java is disabled. Apart from constantly fighting with permission requests, the only ways we have found is to use another environment: browser (use Firefox or Chrome), operating system (use Windows 7), or Java version (use Java 8 build).

How To Remove Internet Explorer On Windows 10

I just solved the problem on two computers (Win 8 64-bit with IE10; Win 8.1 32-bit with IE11). With Java 7 Update 67 in both cases (same with Update 65 and probably others).

In my case, it was caused by java ssv, which first asked for admin rights, and then java stopped working because it messed something up using them.

After that, http://www.java.com/verify/ asks to run Java (twice, first time in IE, second time in Java itself) and when allowed, says everything is fine.

Best Browsers That Support Java And How To Enable It

Nothing to do with security settings… it’s UserAgent in IE11 (in IE11 its Trident while all previous versions of MS IE were MSIE) so I guess the Java deployment tool can’t detect the new baby MS.. .and sent you return to install Java. .

By the way, the applet works at least on the Oracle Test Java page: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp I just remove all JAVA from the computer and then reinstall the latest version and then disable enable “Java( tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper and Java(tm) Plug-In SSV Helper” @ Manage extensions. Before you test Java online. And it works..

I had a similar problem affecting all my browsers. After completely removing all my JRE and JDK and then starting from scratch, I ran into the same problem. I am using Win 7 pro 64 bit.

I have detailed the solution here (Why Java 7 fails to authenticate after successful JRE installation – Java 7 won’t start my browser)

But actually I added this “-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true” to my VM args (set in Java control panel, under Java / View tab) and it solved the problems I was facing… looks like a hack but I guess the latest JRE doesn’t handle IPv6 requests properly

Our site uses a local copy of deployJava.js; This update to the latest copy fixed this issue in IE11. (We’ll probably just start using the web version of deployJava.js instead of the local copy).

Go to RUN and type gpedit.msc, then disable OneDrive completely. Have you noticed that the problem only exists after the last major download from Microsoft? It contained this package. I also removed it from the start menu.

This seems to be the cause of the problem. Something to do with downloading temporary files, which of course is an applet.

Recently had the same problem in IE11 with Windows 7. Add-ons used to work fine but stop working overnight. I solved it by adding applet pages to trusted sites and set it to low security.

How To Enable And Use Ie/compatibility Mode On Microsoft Edge

Even though I installed the latest Java (65) via the Java automatic update notification, I tried to verify the Java version and Java failed to run, I shut down all instances of IE, failed to run the verification again, I shut down all Programs running, failed to run for verification again, rebooted, failed to run verification again, reinstalled 65 (manually shutting down the browser while I was downloading), and finally the verification ran. what a pain

The message I kept getting was “The page you are viewing uses Java …”; Go to https://www.java.com/en/download/help/ie_tips.xml. I do use hibernate on my desktop and I believe this is probably the main problem with the installation and IE with its “smart” integration into the OS and Explorer/desktop. I thought the government told them not to. I had problems with the CD-ROM drive disappearing and other unexplained intermittent problems; Everything was cured after a full reboot. They are rare, so I live with them for the convenience of faster startup times.

In the Java control panel, on the Security tab, uncheck “Enable Java content in the browser” and enable it. Then retest and reapply. It worked for me and I struggled with this issue for days.

How To Disable Java In Ie, Firefox, Chrome, And Safari

If you are using Windows 7 64-bit, I highly recommend downloading the 64-bit Java installer. There is no point in downloading the x86 installer on an x64 based OS.

This type of problem reappeared using the Windows 8 / IE 11 combination with the new Java version (1.8.0_31). The installation seems to work, but after installing Java through the update tab in the Java control panel, every time you run a Java applet, it tells you that your version of Java is out of date, but when you follow the instructions to update again, it says which version of Java is newer than the one on the web.

As with the previous iteration of these issues, what worked for me was, after installation, unchecking “Internet Options | Security | Enable Protected Mode”, running a Java applet, then testing again and all is well.

Are the people at Oracle not testing Windows 8 with IE or is this only happening to people with certain extensions enabled?

Enabling Java In Internet Explorer

As before, this problem did not occur on Windows 7, but there I noticed that the changes in SSLv3 now prevent you from running a local applet in Internet Explorer unless you remove this line from the java.security file. But this problem does not appear in Windows 8, so it is not clear what is actually happening.

If Oracle doesn’t make the update process less complicated, people won’t update. Recently I have seen many people using the 2009 versions of JRE 1.6. This is the kind of situation that often ends badly.

How To Use Internet Explorer (ie) Mode In Microsoft Edge On Windows 11

“Downloading and installing Java will only work in desktop mode on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. See the Java on Windows 8 FAQ for more detailed information.

Unfortunately, Desktop Mode is not the default mode in Windows 8.1. After installing Java and spending 2 hours trying to get Java to work with IE11, I went back to Oracle’s site…I paid a little more attention to this warning!! Switched to desktop mode and reinstalled java… hey, it worked.
